Export and import of bundles
Exporting and importing bundles and exporting the version configuration are SweepMe! Pro features.
The Version Manager can export your drivers, modules, CustomFunction scripts, driver configuration files and calibration files into a single bundle file (.bundle) and import it on another computer. This is a fast way to set up a second measurement computer with the same content or to keep a backup of your own content.
All functions described here are in the menu File of the Version Manager (Tools → Version Manager).
Exporting a bundle
- Open Tools → Version Manager.
- Select File → Export bundle… (Pro).
- Choose the folder and the name of the bundle file (file type SweepMe! Content Bundle (*.bundle)).
- A progress dialog shows the export. When it is finished, the message Export finished lists what has been exported.
There is no selection of single items: the bundle contains all content of the following types.
| Content | What is exported |
|---|---|
| Drivers and modules | All versions that were downloaded with the Version Manager (origin installed) and your own drivers and modules (origin custom, folders CustomDevices and CustomModules of the public SweepMe! folder) |
| CustomFunction scripts | Each script folder in DataModules\CustomFunction\Functions of the public SweepMe! folder |
| Driver configuration files | Each file in the folder CustomFiles of the public SweepMe! folder (files in subfolders are not included) |
| Calibration files | Each file in the folder CalibrationFiles of the public SweepMe! folder, including subfolders |
Pre-installed drivers and modules, which come with the installation of SweepMe!, are not exported. They are available again when you install SweepMe! on the other computer. Measurement data and sequences are not part of the bundle.
If single items cannot be exported, they are skipped and the message Export finished shows how many. Details are shown in the Debug widget (F2).
Importing a bundle
- Install SweepMe! on the target computer and activate a SweepMe! Pro license there.
- Open Tools → Version Manager and select File → Import bundle… (Pro).
- Select the .bundle file.
- When the import is finished, the message Import completed shows how many items were imported (Success), skipped (Skipped) or failed (Error).
Each item is restored to the same kind of folder as on the computer where the bundle was created, e.g. custom drivers to CustomDevices.
Existing content is never overwritten: if a file or folder already exists on the target computer, the item is skipped to prevent a loss of data. The Debug widget (F2) shows which items were skipped. To replace an item, remove or rename it before the import.
After the import, the Version Manager reloads the installed and custom drivers and modules, so that the imported versions are listed. Check that the versions you need are activated.
Exporting the version configuration
File → Export version configuration… (Pro) saves a copy of the file in which the Version Manager stores which driver and module versions are activated (file type Version configuration (*.ini)). You can keep it, for example, to document which versions were used on a measurement computer. The Version Manager has no function to import this file.
Importing a driver or module from a zip file
File → Import zip file… does not require SweepMe! Pro. It imports official driver or module versions from zip files, e.g. on a computer without internet connection. You can select several zip files at once.
- The zip file must contain the file info.ini and the main file of the version. SweepMe! checks the content against the hash given in info.ini and does not import the version if they do not match.
- The version is installed like a downloaded version (origin installed) and activated.
- If the version already exists, SweepMe! asks whether to replace it.
