SweepMe! can take screenshots of the screens, the main window, the Dashboard, the tabs of the main window (including module tabs) and single widgets. Use them, for example, for a lab notebook, a report or a question in the SweepMe! Forum.

Taking a screenshot

Screenshot of How File name
Screens Window → Screenshot or F12 <timestamp>_Screen1.png, <timestamp>_Screen2.png, …
Main window Window → Main Window → Screenshot <timestamp>_Mainwindow.png
Dashboard Window → Dashboard → Screenshot <timestamp>_Dashboard.png
Tabs General and Sequencer Camera button Screenshot in the title bar of the tab <timestamp>_General.png, <timestamp>_Sequencer.png
Module tab Camera button Screenshot in the title bar of the module tab <timestamp>_Module_<module label>.png
Widget Right-click the title bar of the widget → Screenshot. For widgets added via the menu Widgets, also Widgets → <widget type> → <widget name> → Screenshot. <timestamp>_Widget_<widget name>.png

The timestamp has the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH-MM-SS, e.g. 2026-10-27T14-05-33_Dashboard.png. If you take two screenshots of the same kind within one second, the second one replaces the first one.

Screens

Window → Screenshot (F12) captures each screen on which the main window or the Dashboard is visible. The Windows taskbar is not included. Each screen is saved as a separate file.

Windows, tabs and widgets

Screenshots of the main window, the Dashboard, tabs and widgets only capture the selected element. For tabs of the main window, the complete content is captured, including parts that are outside the visible area and would require scrolling. The element flashes briefly when the screenshot is taken.

Where the screenshots go

  • Each screenshot is saved as a .png file to the folder Screenshots of the public SweepMe! folder (see Folder system).
  • The screenshot is also copied to the clipboard, so you can paste it directly into another program with Ctrl+V. If several screens are captured, the clipboard contains the last one.
  • A message confirms the screenshot. Click the message to open the folder Screenshots. The info box of the General tab also shows a link to the folder.

Screenshots during a measurement

To take screenshots automatically during a run, use the Logger module with the driver PC Screenshot. It captures the screen or a part of it and stores the images in the temporary folder of the run, see Saving data.
